10th Anniversary of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA)

Edie Forsyth and Cyndie Sproul were invited to attend the 10th Anniversary of the AODA. The event was held at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto.

The previous Lieutenant Government, David Onley spoke of the great strides and changes that were accomplished over the last 10 years.

Economic Development Minister Duguid, stressed the importance of the next 10 years. He noted that there will be better enforcement measures for compliance with the AODA, that 9 million dollars is being set aside for a capacity-building project to enhance employment for people with disabilities.

He also spoke about an accessibility certification program that is being developed to recognize businesses and organizations that have championed accessibility.

It was a very pleasant night and we felt honoured to be invited.
